About James Mohn
For over 20 years, James Mohn Architect, PC, has realized residential and commercial commissions in New York City, the Hamptons, Washington DC, Chicago, and Pittsburgh. His hallmark is a sensitive blend of contemporary and traditional styles geared to make clients comfortable and satisfied at home and at the office.
Trained as an architect, during James’s formative years in the offices of Richard Meier & Partners, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, and B Five Studio, he developed a dual interest in architecture and interior design. JMA is comprised of architects and interior designers working collaboratively to create highly functional, meticulously detailed environments. James’s designs embody tactility and sensuality, and incorporate historical and classical form while simultaneously pursuing innovation and modernity.
In addition to residential design, the firm’s experience includes museums, medical and law practices, hospitality design, as well as product and fashion showrooms. JMA has designed countless pieces of custom furniture, as well as an array of domestic products developed for and exclusively produced by the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa).
JMA routinely consults with landscape designers ensuring that gardens and hardscaping are successfully integrated with the overall project vision. JMA also coordinates with expediters, local municipalities and legal professionals on behalf of clients to help navigate regulations surrounding complex issues like waterfront easements, environmental requirements, and more.
